The Mine of Urbandur, the Augur, and the Citadel

Grissle and Erda brought he fight right to the invading enemies:  an elf ranger, a halfling scout, two human commoners, and two orcs, all with the mad black eyes and midnight blood that every invader of Urbandur was shedding that night.   Sanyll joined the fight after ushering the fleeing citizens to the Mine for safety.  Kyras took up a sniping position and aided the grievously wounded Captain Wrata, and Myrna made her way around the melee offering a bit of a blessing and some divine strength to the fight.

Once those foes were defeated the heroes escorted the citizens, remaining guards, and Captains Fallow and Wrata to Urbandur's mine, where they found Sanyll's father, DaZaguhr, guarding the doors and standing before a felled yeti, thick iron quarrels piercing its body all over, its black blood darkening the ground.

Inside they met with the Baron Vytuatus, his son, Stalvar, and they hatched a plan to draw the fearsome Remhoraz away from the Citadel and into the mine.  It would be trapped at the bottom of the mine's central shaft and killed by the Augur, the enormous drill that is the major excavator of the mine.

Grissle and Kyras's new friend, Janessa, volunteer with Captain Fallow to be bait for the beast in the tunnels while Kyras, Sanyll, Dazaghur, and Myrna were stationed to guard the Augur controls so that it could be dropped at just the right moment to slay the beast.

As the trap was set, and the beast appeared, Mister Nervasas dropped the ball, and dropped the Augur a bit too early.  The Remhoraz was too quick and dashed after Grissle and Janessa down the tunnels.  Larval remhoraz hassled the crew guarding the controls and Dazaghur knocked out the incompetent Nervasas and took over the controls himself.

In a minute the Augur was ready to go again, hoisted back to the top.  One runner had perished and Grissle, Janessa, and Captain Fallow had the Remhoraz right they wanted it.  Unfortunately, the beast grabbed a hold of Janessa at the last moment and tore her shield and hand away.  Grissle dragged her to safety, and healed her while Kyras gave the go ahead for the Augur drop.  It fell, the beast was crushed under it, though it did not die right away.  Dazaghur turned the great machine on and ground that monster into a gritty black paste of chiton and chewed meat.  Woo-Hoo!  Everyone levelled up, healed, and got spells back.

Next, the heroes agreed to go with Captain Fallow, Baron Vytautus, and Stalvar on a rescue mission to bring back the Baroness, The Baron's daughter, and any other citizens they could find alive int he citadel.  They took the remhoraz's own tunnel to avoid the battelfield of the city.  Baron Vytautus and Captain Fallow stayed in the tunnel to protect their return to the mine, and Stalvar went with the heroes to lead them through the citadel.  On the way to the Armory, where he hoped to find either his family, or maybe some guards to help him look, Stalvar and Kyras snuck ahead of the others to scout out the path.  They spotted three orcish intruders striding down a hallway littered with bodies and debris.  As of our pause in the story the orcs remain unaware of the danger lurking nearby with sword, cudgel, crossbow, and fang.
